Alice R. Burns, 85, of Keokuk, formerly of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois.
Alice was born on May 8, 1933, in Armour, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Fern (Conover) Bussell. On September 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Morrison “Bud” R. Burns in Hamilton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2017.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, Alice was employed at Stebbing and Sohl Insurance in Keokuk for many years and served as a Girl Scout leader. In her free time, Alice enjoyed working in her flower garden and golfing and bird watching with her husband. One of her favorite hobbies was building beautiful and elaborate dollhouses. Alice was a lifelong learner, and was never afraid to try new things. Due to her very expressive face, you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She will always be remembered as a kind and caring individual.
Alice is survived by two sons: Morrison "Bob" R. (Deborah) Burns, Jr., of Rodanthe, North Carolina; and Mark (Carie) Burns of Hayward, Wisconsin; two daughters: Lyn (Ken) Kasiske of Frances Town, New Hampshire; and Kelly (Monte) Tallcott of Loraine, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband Morrison “Bud” Burns; three sisters: Ida Hanson, Lela Scholten and Annie Lou Bruder; and her grandson Brian.
Alice’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 10 am on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Alice may be directed to Sunset Home in Quincy or Unity Point Hospice.
