Avis E. Wallett

Avis E. Wallett, 95, of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa.

Avis was born on August 17, 1923, in rural Holland, Minnesota, the daughter of Royal and Effie (Ott) Moffitt. On October 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Wallett at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1986.

A long-time resident of Warsaw, Avis was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw for many years, where she sang in the choir. During her working career, she owned and operated the IGA grocery store in Warsaw with her husband. Avis was active in the Warsaw community, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Warsaw Boat Club.

Avis is survived by her son Randy (Karen) Wallett of Fort Madison, Iowa; four grandchildren: Nicole (Andy) Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; Traci (Jason) Smith of Houston, Texas; Ashley (Seth) Jackson of Iowa City, Iowa; and Zachery (Lynnae) Wallett of Eldridge, Iowa; two great-grandchildren: Grant and Owen Smith of Houston, Texas; two step-great-grandchildren: Emma and Cooper Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters: Joyce Sparrow and Marlyce Paar, both of Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Avis is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, two sisters: Wanda and Deloris, two brothers: Donald and Royal, and many other loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 am on Friday at the funeral home directly before the service.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw.
