Betty Lou (Bennett) Brown

Betty Lou Brown, 96, of Nauvoo, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018, at her home in Nauvoo.

Betty was born on December 28, 1921, in Sonora Township, the daughter of John and Isabelle M. (Liegerot) Bennett. On March 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harry Brown in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2000.

A lifelong resident of Hancock County, Betty was a member of Golden’s Point Christian Church and the Hamilton V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Throughout her professional career, she was employed as a secretary at the Independent Lumber Company in Keokuk and the Hamilton High School.

Betty is survived by her daughter Diana Price (Russell Hall) of Rolla, Missouri; her son Steven (Jean) Brown of Nauvoo, Illinois; four grandchildren: Sylvia Johnson (Roy Wright), Dan Johnson, Annie (Tim) Holmes, and Kevin Crabtree (Amy Courtney); five great-grandchildren: Cole (Tiffany) Newberry, Emma Newberry, Evin Crabtree, Elayna Crabtree and Eathan Crabtree; and two great-great grandchildren: Makayla and Asher Newberry. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Golden’s Point Christian Church in rural Hamilton, with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Hamilton. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am at the church directly before the service.
