Billie F. Carlson

Billie Carlson, age 69, a long-time resident of the Quincy area, died on Saturday September 15, 2018 at 12:34pm at the Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, IL.

 Billie was born May 11, 1949 in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin and Gladys Renn. She was a 1967 graduate of Waverly-Shell Rock High School.

 Billie was an exceptional cook and especially enjoyed planning and preparing holiday meals for her family. She also collected recipes and lovingly shared them with everyone she met. Billie was a movie and music enthusiast, who could always be heard singing her favorite gospel hymns. She was active in church and enjoyed singing in the choir and helping lead vacation bible school. Additionally, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and her cats, Moe and Gabby.

 Survivors include: two sons, Joshua (Kayleen) and Andrew Carlson of Quincy; four grandchildren, Erik, Elijah, Kate, and Kash Carlson all of Quincy; a sister, Connie Hensley of MO; nephews, Paul Metzger of Sibley, IA and James Hopkins of San Pedro, CA; and three nieces, Marty Novak of Phoenix, AZ, Rachel Howell of Eagle Point, OR, and Linda Hopkins of Lexington, KY.

 Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Roxie Metzger, nephews Jack Metzger and Will Hopkins, Aunt LuVerne Iserman, and ex-husband and close friend Daniel Carlson.  

 A memorial service will be held at the Montebello Healthcare Center on Sunday September 23, 2018 at 6:30pm.
