Clela Josephine Cole, 96, formerly of Elvaston, passed away at the Montebello Care Center in Hamilton on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 3:10 P.M.
Clela was born January 3, 1923, the daughter of Elijah and Mae (Tackett) Osburn in Fayetteville, Arkansas. On June 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Klem Cole in Fayetteville and he preceded her in death in 1985. Clela was well known for her cooking and cookies at the Elvaston School for many years. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting making many doilies and tablecloths for friends and family. She and Klem were active in the Holiday Travelers Group and visited many places over the years. Clela was a member of the Elvaston Community Church.
Clela is survived by a daughter, Dena (Earl) Boyer of Nauvoo; a son, Joe (Barb) Cole of Carthage; five grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Mertens, Kory (Christine) Boyer, Jeff (Natalie) Cole, Chris (Melinda) Cole and Scott Cole; eleven great grandchildren, Whitney (Tyler Autery) Boyer, Jordi, Ashley and Megan Mertens, Carson and Chloe Boyer, Sedona and Sawyer Cole, and Brady, Sadie and Tucker Cole; and five great great grandchildren, Kadyn and Korbyn Boyer, Maxtyn Autery, Gwen Harrison and Ella Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Junior, Dena, Hasseltine, Vivian and Verneda.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in the Elvaston Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the Elvaston Presbyterian Church. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
