Dale Finton Obituary

Dale William Finton, 78, of Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton.

Dale was born on September 14, 1940, in Warsaw, Illinois, the son of Bud and Katherine (Hardy) Finton. He was united in marriage to Mary Morgan, and they later divorced.

A lifelong resident of Warsaw, Dale was employed at Steel Castings for many years before his retirement. In his free time, Dale enjoyed raising tropical fish and mineral collecting. He had a natural green thumb, and could make anything grow. During his retirement, Dale enjoyed going to auctions and collecting coins. He was very social, and could often be found at the Warsaw Casey’s General Store or the Keokuk McDonalds, where he would visit with his friends.

Dale is survived by his son Jim (Kim) Finton of Keokuk; two daughters: Sue Abernathy of Oklahoma; Leiann (Tim) Malmgren of Hamilton; six grandchildren: Noah (Lesley) Finton, Jessica and Shane Abernathy, Harley and Brooke Malmgren; and Taylor Embry; his brother John Finton of Lomax, Illinois; two sisters: Verla (Dean) Robison and Rosemary Percival, both of Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Angela Embry; his brother Jerry Finton; and five sisters: Maxine Grunewald, Alice Lamborne, Daisy Ashworth, Vivian Boyd and Susie Finton.

According to his wishes, no services will be held at this time. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw at a later date.
