Dorothy Mae Davis, 100, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the Montrose Care Center in Montrose, Iowa.
Dorothy was born August 15, 1918, the daughter of Fredrick Lee and Clara V. Caulkins in Carthage. On February 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to James Willard Davis in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 2003. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of TOPS in Carthage, and drove a Star Postal Route for many years. She enjoyed embroidery, needlepoint, fancywork and camping. She was an active member of the Carthage Presbyterian Church and the Wednesday morning Bible study.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Sherry Vaughn of Quasqueton, Iowa, Alicia (Don) Murphy of Keokuk and David (Cami) Davis of Burnside, Illinois; five grandchildren, Christina (Tony) Main, Jeffery (Greta) Vaughn, April (John) Mayers, Joshua (Anna) Davis, and Kari Davis; five great grandchildren, Jacob and Haley Main, Ella and Ingrid Vaughn and Allie Brookhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willard; her half-brother, Alan Caulkins; and her son-in-law Dale Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Carthage Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the Carthage Presbyterian Church, Every Step Hospice and the Montrose Health Center.
