Harold J. Huls

Harold J. Huls, 84, of Carthage, passed away at 8:43 A.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

Harold was born August 16, 1934 to Jacob G. and Hilda K (Sartorius) Huls. 

On December 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ina A. Redenius at Immanual Lutheran Church near Basco.  He was a lifelong crop farmer and for many years also a dairy farmer.

Harold is survived by his wife Ina of Carthage; daughters Bev (Duane) Jordan, Carthage and Joyce Huls of Chandler, Arizona.  Three grandchildren; Sara (Matt) Henning of Petaluma, California, Amber Dooley of Springfield, Missouri, and Ryan Jordan of Carthage.  Two great grandchildren; Beatrice Henning and Cecilia Henning of Petaluma, California.  Seven sisters; Martha Shay, Alice Varner, Esther Huls, Janet (Leroy) Hoffman and Fern (Dave) Grace, all of Carthage, Mary (Don) Lisenbee of Texas, and Dixie (Ed) Schneider of Idaho and one brother, Lloyd (Colleen) Huls of Carthage and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters; Cindy Dooley and Cathy Lefler, one son-in-law Steve Dooley and two sisters Gladys Rhodes and Susan Tenhouse.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Basco with burial to follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. at the church. 

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church near Basco or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
