James Edward “Eddie” Sanderson, 68, of Quincy, formerly of Carthage and Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.
James was born on February 25, 1951, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Lloyd George and Marian (Dunham) Sanderson. His first job was working as a tree trimmer with his father before becoming a taxi driver. James later graduated from the GTI Mechanics School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he became a licensed mechanic. In his free time, James enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and hunting. James proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969 and was honorably discharged. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle personality, his giving spirit and his wonderful sense of humor.
James is survived by his mother Marian Phillips of Keokuk, Iowa; his son Timothy Paul Sanderson of Hamilton; two grandchildren: Brenton and Bryson Sanderson; six siblings: Joyce (David) Hauk of Warsaw; Robert (Kim) Sanderson of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; Cynthia (Kevin) Roskamp of Mendon, Illinois; Elizabeth Jones of Quincy; Patricia (Adolph) Mejia of San Antonio, Texas; and Tammy Keagan of Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his father George Sanderson, his brother George Sanderson and his step-father Richard Phillips.
James’ life will be celebrated by a funeral service at noon on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Military rites at the cemetery will be rendered by the Hancock County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 am to noon on Saturday directly before the service.
