Jean H. Spriggs, 96, of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, Illinois.
Jean was born on April 8, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of James and Hazel (Scott) Spriggs. She was the sixth of nine children, and graduated from Warsaw High School. She started her working career at the battery factory in Warsaw before transitioning to the shoe factory in Warsaw. She retired from Sheffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, where she worked for many years.
Jean loved flowers and gardening, especially roses. She loved the Lord and loved teaching his word. She shared this love by teaching Sunday School for over twenty years, and leading Wednesday night services when the church was without a minister.
Jean is survived by her sister Hazel Spriggs of Carthage and many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Elizabeth Gilliam, Alice Cummings, Ruth Clark, Florence Brownlee and Margaret Bates; and two brothers: Jim Spriggs and Scott Spriggs.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Warsaw Assembly of God Church in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 am on Thursday at the church directly before the funeral.
Memorials may be directed to Blessing Hospice or Montebello Healthcare Center.
