Karen Clark Obituary

Teresa “Karen” Clark, 76, of Carthage, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Carthage on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2:55 A.M.

 Karen was born July 9, 1941, the daughter of A.E. “Ed” and Eileen (Paulus) Lehr in LaHarpe, Illinois.  She attended Carthage High School graduating in 1959.  During her school years she enjoyed roller skating and served as Majorette in the band.  On November 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jeffrey Clark at the Ferris Methodist Church.  He survives. 

 For years, Karen was a volunteer serving as the Hancock County Pageant Director.  She was a life-time member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, was a founding member of the Carthage Twirlettes and devoted much time to Raeann’s School of Dance where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Karen”.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, bowling league and the Southside Boat Club.  She was of the Methodist faith and also attended First Christian Church (DOC) in Carthage.  When Karen was fifty, she graduated from cosmetology school in Macomb and went on to be an instructor in Canton.  She ran her beauty salon in Carthage for many years.

 Karen is survived by her husband, Jeff, of Carthage; a son, Steve (Darla) Clark of Dixon, Illinois; a daughter, Teri Vance of Carthage; three grandchildren, Conor (Kat) Billings-Clark, Tyler Billings-Clark and Chauntel Vance; her mother, Eileen Lehr of Hamilton; sister, Betty Ann Twaddle of Carthage; brother, James (Anne) Lehr of Camdenton, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Linda Lehr of Shreveport, Louisiana.

 She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Keith Lehr; a brother in law, Richard Twaddle and a sister-in-law, Patsy Lehr.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  In lieu of flowers and food, memorials may be directed to the Memorial Hospital Foundation or Pink Heals, a group of volunteers and their pink fire trucks that bring love, hope and support to those struggling with cancer. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
