Margaret Louise Munson

April 10, 1922 ~ May 9, 2018 (age 96)

Margaret Louise Knowles Munson, 96, passed away May 9, 2018 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Visitation was held at Strode Funeral Home on Monday May 14, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 23, 2018 at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Illinois, under the direction of Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

She was born April 10, 1922 in Macomb, Illinois to Alred Knowles and Olive Winifred (Lester) Knowles. On October 12, 1943 Margaret married Leon L Munson in Gadsden, Alabama. Leon passed away in April 1983.

Marge graduated and obtained her high school diploma from Western Academy in Macomb, Illinois. She then attended secretarial school and worked as an office manager and executive secretary for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma where she sang alto in the choir. Marge painted with oils and was a member of the Art Guild. She was a world traveler and was proud to say that she had visited all 50 states in the U.S. She was an avid golfer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, A.L. Knowles and Robert Knowles and sister Dorothea.

Margaret is survived by her son, Lance Munson of Stillwater and daughter, JoyceAnne Munson Welsh, (Dave) of Iowa City, Iowa. Three grandchildren, Jamie Wright Sheriff (Scott) of Austin, TX; Matthew and Margie Munson of Stillwater, OK and one great-grandchild, William Sheriff. One sister-in-law, Betty Boyer of Carthage, Illinois as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.
