Marjorie Ann Knowles, 95, of Plymouth, IL passed away at 2:58 PM Saturday October 28th at Wesley Village in Macomb, IL Surrounded by her family.
Marjorie was born September 19th, 1923 the daughter of Ernie and Mary Ann (Annie) Smith of rural Carthage of Hancock Township. Marjorie attended Oak Grove School.
Marjorie united in marriage to Charles Raymond Knowles on December 23rd, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. He proceeded her in death in 1986.
Marjorie was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church until it closed. She led the congregation in hymns. She later attended St. Mary’s Baptist Church. Marjorie was also a member of the Thrifty Fingers Club where she enjoyed fellowship with her friends.
Marjorie was famous for her cooking and baking, where everyone was always welcome to sit and eat. She was an amazing friend to everyone she knew. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren and her love for farming.
Marjorie leaves behind to cherish her memories four children, Marilyn Drake, McHenry, IL, Peggy (Tom) Bonacuse, Punta Gorda, FL, Chuck (Cindi) Knowles of Carthage IL and Debbie (Bill) Taylor of Hamilton, IL; 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Charles R. Knowles, and a son in law, Dan Drake. One sister, Leta Towles, 4 brothers, Howard Smith, Harvey Smith, Harold (Bub) Smith and Charlie Smith.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Saturday November 3rd, 2018 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 6 PM with family meeting friends from 4 to 6 PM at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.
Memorials may be directed to MDH Hospice or Wesley Village Fund for a Hoyer Patient Lift.
