Melissa JoeAnn (Harding) Hummel

Melissa JoeAnn (Harding) Hummel, 50, of Quincy, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Melissa was born on March 15, 1968, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Kenny and Esther (Guymon) Harding. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1986, and went on to study at Southeastern Community College. On September 22, 1990, she was united in marriage to Steve Hummel. They were later divorced. When she wasn’t participating in her children’s school activities, Melissa enjoyed pursuing artistic endeavors, especially creating ceramics. She also enjoyed traveling, especially on family trips to Disney World. She always loved her family deeply.

Melissa is survived by her daughter Alison Hummel of Quincy, Illinois; her son Bryce Hummel of Quincy; a grandchild due in February of 2019; her sister Stephanie (David) Jacobsmeier, her brother K.C. (Lyndee) Harding; two nieces: Alyssa Harding and Emma Mecum; two nephews: Landon Patrick and Grayson Harding; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Melissa is preceded in death by her grandparents Frances and LeRoy Guymon and Charlotte and Scott Harding, her mother-in-law Mary Hummel and her infant brother K. Charles Harding.

Melissa’s life will be celebrated with a visitation from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton. A private family graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton will be held at a later time.

Memorials may be directed to a charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
