Phillip R. Neally, 85, of Quincy, passed away at 7:20 P.M., Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.
Phillip was born October 2, 1933, the son of Frank and Lillian (Morgan) Neally in Carthage, Illinois. He graduated from Carthage High School. On September 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Annice I. Wear in Carthage. Phillip began as a part time stock boy at the Benner Store in Carthage. He worked his way up and became President and C.E.O. of Aldi Foods in May of 1979. He served in that position for 20 years retiring in 1999. Phillip was a graduate of the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. He served as a lay speaker for many years and also served as Pastor of the Denver Christian Church for two years. He was a member of the Sarasota Baptist Church and had been attending Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy since moving there in 2018.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Annice of Quincy; three children, Kirk (Debra) Neally of Hamilton, Brenda (Scott) Bahorik of East Peoria, Illinois and Joel (Vian) Neally of Carthage; eleven grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Mowrer of Lewistown, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Jide Neally of Jacksonville, Illinois; a brother-in-law, James Newell of Hawthorne, Callifornia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings, Raymond and Henry Morgan, Cleo Neally, Cerise Durham, Frank Neally, Jr., Shirley Newell and Mildred Walsh.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage Saturday evening from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. with family meeting friends from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the Sarasota Baptist Church or Blessing Hospice.
