Robert Douglas “Doug” Kimberley, 76, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away due to a boating accident on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Unity Point Health – Keokuk in Keokuk, Iowa.
Doug was born on March 31, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Hazel (Johnson) Kimberley. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1960, and on September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Wisslead in Warsaw, Illinois. They later divorced and remained close friends. Doug worked as a cabinet maker and carpenter for many years and was known for being a perfectionist and for his attention to detail. He took great pride in his craftsmanship. When he was not working, Doug enjoyed listening to jazz music, playing pool, fishing and spending time with his friends. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Doug is survived by his daughter Teresa Patrick and her husband Mike of Gilbert, Arizona; two sons: Trent Kimberley and wife Melissa of Marshall, Illinois; and Dana Kimberley and wife Lindsay of Kansas City, Missouri; and five grandchildren: Wade Patrick, Shae Patrick, Jonathon Kimberley, Adam Kimberley and Megan Anderson. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Maxine Eck and Patricia Frey.
Funeral services with full military rites will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, Illinois, with burial to follow in Scandinavian Cemetery near Summitville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm, with family meeting friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Annual Ray Froman Memorial Catfish Tournament.
