Stephen Olen Parkin, 61, of Iowa City, formerly of Warsaw, passed away at the Iowa City Veteran’s Administration Hospital on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 12:12 A.M.
Stephen was born January 22, 1958, the son of Lloyd I. and Pauline (Goldman) Parkin at the Fort Huachuca Army Base in Cochise, Arizona. He attended Warsaw High School graduating in 1976. He then enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1980 receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1984. Stephen had worked as a correctional officer at the Ft. Madison Penitentiary. He enjoyed motorcycles.
Stephen is survived by two sons, Cody Parkin of Ft. Madison and Derrick Koeber of Quincy, Illinois; a brother, Michael (Kelly) Parkin of Morrisonville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jamie Fink, Lucas Parkin and Patricia Howard; two nieces, Erin Carter and Tammy Kraus; a nephew, Paul Parkin; and one aunt, Marge Neally of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a half-brother, Rodney Niles.
Family will meet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw. Full Military rites by the Hancock County Honor Guard and U.S. Airforce will follow immediately at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Memorials may be directed to the Hancock County Honor Guard.
