Sylvia Clem Obituary

Marie Clem, 88, passed away at her home in Longmont, Colorado on November 3, 2018. She was born May 6, 1930 to Olen H. Monroe and Gurthie M. Cadwalader. She was raised in West Point, IL by her grandparents, Henry Clay and Mary Monroe. She married Walter W. “Bill” Clem on June 14, 1946 in Bowen, IL.

In 1960, they moved to Colorado with their 5 children. Marie was an established Realtor, serving Longmont and surrounding communities for over 30 years. During her career, she worked for Title Realty, Century 21, Remax, Coldwell Banker, and retired in 2007 from E.R.A. In her spare time, you could find her at Centennial Lanes bowling on a league and spent many years as part of the Woman’s Bowling Association. She loved to fish and most importantly, playing cards with her family and most recently, teaching her great grandchildren how to play. She spent many Sunday morning’s attending church at New Creation and then Rocky Mountain Christian Church. Sunday afternoon’s and holidays were spent in the kitchen hosting family dinner. There was very seldom a family gathering that didn’t include the best homemade pies!

In 2008, Marie made the decision to move back to Bowen, IL, to spend quality time with her eldest and youngest son’s, grandchildren and great grandchild. She got to spend 8 years being back home when her eldest son passed away. Shortly following, she experienced some medical problems that brought her back to the Longmont area to reside with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband and son Mike Clem.

She is survived by her siblings Jean Trudo (John) of St. Charles, MO and Harold Monroe (Diane) of Clarksville, AR. Her children Les Clem (Patti) of Commerce City, CO, Ramona Hollenbeck (Kirk) and Ruby Phillips of Longmont, CO, and Kelly Clem (Mernie Yex) of Bowen, IL. Grandchildren; Eric Clem (Rachel) of Marysville, IA, Dr. Nathan Clem (Courtney) of Seattle, WA. Jeffrey Hall of Maiden, NC, Elizabeth Roe (Bobby) of Longmont, CO. Dr. Amy Clem (Danny Beetner) of Burlington, IA, Michelle Keokham (Songkong) of Springfield, IL, Natalie Phillips (Jaime Acosta) of Thornton, CO, Kimberly Stewart (Landon) of Platteville, CO and Kaylene Phillips of Longmont, CO.
