Vada Zane (Spicknall) Logan

Vada Zane Spicknall Logan, passed away at 5:20 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at St. Mary Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Vada was born March 20, 1926, the daughter of Charles Edward and Virginia (Dare) Spicknall east of Fairmont, Missouri.  She graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1945.   She then worked for Shaeffer Pen in Ft. Madison where she met Howard E. Logan.  They were united in marriage on March 21, 1947 in Carthage, Illinois.  She and Howard moved to Southern Minnesota where they farmed and raised cattle.  They always had a large garden from which they canned and freezing food for the winter.  She also did sewing for her family.  She enjoyed working with her children in 4-H and served as a leader for many years.  After Howard’s death in 1975 she worked as a cook in Grand Meadows and Racine retiring after 10 years.  She and her daughter enjoyed traveling and visited England, Ireland, The Netherlands, Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands and much of the continental United States.  She enjoyed crafts and collecting clocks from her travels. 

Vada is survived by her daughter Vanessa Logan, of Racine, Minnesota; a son, DeWayne Logan of Rochester, Minnesota, several nieces, nephews and cousins in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and North Carolina areas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; a son, Max; sisters, Hazel Feldman and Mildred Mohr; and brothers, Ralph Spicknall and Elvin Spicknall.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning, May 9th, 2019, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial immediately following in Pilot Grove Cemetery near Burnside.  Memorials may be directed to American Heart Fund.  Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
