William "Bill" Marshall Obituary

William “Bill” Marshall, 89, of Carthage passed away at 1:22 A.M. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Silver Maple Care Center in Carthage.

Bill was born February 3, 1930, the son of Frank and Helen (Van Ausdall) Felger and William Warren Marshall near Hamilton, Illinois.  He attended Hamilton High School graduating in 1948.  He then worked with Don Forsythe at the Journal Printing Company in Carthage.  Bill was married to Joan Donnelly and they had four children.  They later separated.  On March 14, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mildred Ufkes Marlett and she preceded him in death in 2011.  Bill and Mildred started M & W graphics in 1980 and operated it until 2000 when they retired.  Bill was a member of the Memorial Hospital board in Carthage.  He was a member of the Hancock County Gun Club and NRA.  He enjoyed hunting.  He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage.

Bill is survived by a daughter, Gayle Kil of Portage, Michigan; two sons, Kenneth Marshall of Olathe, Kansas and David (Shelly) Marshall of Keokuk, Iowa; a step-son, Dr. Myron (Pat) Marlett of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Jingst of Sebring, Florida, Irene Houston of Burlington, Iowa and Frances (Dale) Best of Woodland, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Marshall; a son-in-law, Richard Kill; a brother, Charles Felgar; a sister, Shirley DeMonbrun; and a great grandchild.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.  Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage.   Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
