Charles Thompson Obituary Charles W. Thompson 86, of Montrose, Iowa died Friday, October 17, 2008 at River Hills Nursing Home, in Keokuk, Iowa.
He was born on May 29, 1922 in Ferris, Illinois the son of Charles and Jessie Long Thompson. Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a participant in D-Day invasion. He married Betty Howard on December 30, 1945 in Carthage, Illinois. She survives. He had lived in the Montrose area for fifty years and had operated several businesses in Montrose. He liked to hunt and fish.
He is survived by; His wife: Betty of Montrose, Iowa; Six Children: Tom Thompson and his wife Jackie of Fort Madison, Iowa; Terry L Thompson and his wife Kathy of Clarksville, Tennessee
Sherry Hames and her companion Alvin of Parsippany, New Jersey; Lonnie Thompson and his wife Sarah of Waldorf, Maryland
Steve Thompson and wife Patti of Keokuk Iowa
Danny Thompson of Montrose, Iowa; One sister: Adelaide Carey and her husband Wendell of Blandinsville, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren & fifteen great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dale and a sister Rosie.
Graveside services was Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Keokuk National Cemetery with full military rites with John Heyland and Terry Thompson officiating.
