Obituary

Albert E. "Kep" Keppel, IV, 62, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home in Keokuk.

Albert was born on March 31, 1964, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Albert Keppel, III, and Kathleen (Curfman) Keppel. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1982 and went on to work at Kentucky Fried Chicken for seven years and Steel Castings in the union for twenty-nine years. On November 15, 2003, he was united in marriage to Michelle Davidson, she survives.

Albert was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter, dabbled in some good-natured gambling, and took his lawn care seriously. He was known by family and friends for his incredible cooking; his fried fish, grilled anything and deer jerky being the most sought-after items. Albert was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. His stubborn streak was well-documented, as was his ability to "McGuiver" fixes around the house. After thirteen years of Michelle begging to bring home a dog, Albert relented and adopted "Stink", his dog that in words he hated and by actions he loved. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his passion for the things he cared about, most of all, his family.

Albert is survived by his wife Michelle Keppel; his mother Kathleen Keppel; three sons: Albert, V, Tanner and Kole Keppel; his grandson Dominic Keppel; two sisters: Therese (Jim) Neff and Marsha Jairl; special friends Brenda Sutcliffe and family and Terry Tripp; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert is preceded in death by his father Albert Keppel, III, his son Nathan Lee Keppel, his brother-in-law Brian Jairl and his best friend Lester Land.

According to his wishes, cremation has occurred and no services will be held at this time.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Michelle Keppel.
