Barrett 'Barry' Marlin Obituary Barrett Patrick Marlin, 72, of Keokuk, IA, passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2024, in Canton, IL.
He Was born February 17th, 1952, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Edward & Teresa (Lemaster) Marlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: John Marlin, Phillip Marlin, and Peter Marlin; and two brothers-in-law: Jack L. Tisdale and Rob Conover.
He is survived by two sisters: Kathryn Tisdale of Canton, IL, and Mary Ann Conover of Pekin, IL, and one brother, Paul Marlin of Peoria, IL, and his sister-in-law Connie (Marlin) McCracken. He is also survived by two long time trucking friends: Steve "Stubby" Adams & Kevin Quickle.
He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews: Ryan Marlin of California, Kevin Marlin of Florida, Megan Labresh of Iowa, Janelle Chavis of South Carolina, Daniel Marlin of Illinois, Amelia Christy of Illinois, Sean Crombie of Arizona, and Amanda Zehringer of South Carolina. He had many great nieces and nephews and was especially close with Collin, Grant and Sara Christy.
Barry served honorable in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic working on the aircraft carrier USS Interprise. Barry enjoyed traveling around the country in his younger years working in different fields before he settled in Florida for some time. He returned to Illinois later where he became a semi-truck driver hauling steel for several years before retiring to Keokuk, IA.
He enjoyed being with his family and having picnic gatherings, was very proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed his Harleys through the years. He had a contagious laugh and sense of humor and he loved his moms "no bake yummies". He loved collecting trains and memorabilia about Keokuk and the TP&W railway.
Memorials can be made to the Keokuk Union Depot Foundation of Keokuk, IA.
Military honors will be rendered at 11 am on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
