Betty Hopkins Obituary Betty Darlene Hopkins, 89, of Hamilton, formerly of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away at the Montebello Care Center in Hamilton at 9:25 A.M. on Monday, April 20, 2015.
Betty was born October 7, 1925, in Geneseo, Illinois the daughter of Herbert T. and Mary F. (Strawhacker) King. She graduated from Tampico High School in 1943. On July 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to Vernon R. Hopkins, Jr. in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1988. Betty was an exceptional sales person and was the District and Regional Sales Director for the Tupperware, Artex and Tri-Chem companies. She was a member of the Smyrna Primitive Baptist Church in Bentley and attended the New Liberty Primitive Baptist Church in Hartsburg, Missouri.
Betty is survived by her two children, Lois Darlene (David) Metternich of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Arlyn R. (Bobbie L. ) Hopkins of Hamilton, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Ginger (Dave) Sommerer, Vicky (Terry) Gower, Julie (Dennis) Atkinson, Jodie (Dave) Lewis, Gregory (Ann) Metternich, A. Richard (Tia Boyles) Hopkins, Heidi L. (Jason Zenk) Hopkins, and Travis (Anna) Hopkins; great grandchildren, Tori (Lucas) Karr, Rachel, Josh and Matt Sommerer, James Atkinson, Mackenzie and Ryan Lewis, Valerie and Olivia Metternich, Desiree (John Newbill) Hopkins, Tyler (Kelsey Lay) and Jude Hopkins, Devlin Ramos, Samantha (Lance) Clark, AshLeighan (Brenden Siegfried) Glisan, Tucker Glisan, Dakota, Trevor and Ryan Hope Hopkins and Sophie McCabe; two great great grandchildren, Kylee and Ava Newbill; and one sister, Dorothy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; a daughter, Linda Sue; her step-mother, Ethel (Tillie) King; five sisters, Nina, Helen, Fern, Lily and Esther; a great grandson, Henry Thomas Atkinson: and two step-brothers, Jimmy and Alfred Gibbs.
She was loved and cherished by her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning, April 27, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to H.U.G.S. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
