Betty Montgomery Obituary Betty Jean Montgomery, of Carthage, passed away at her home at 8:40 AM Friday, November 4, 2022. Betty was born September 6, 1932, in St. Albans TWP, Illinois. She is the daughter of Rhinehardt O. and Charlotte F. (Bachman) Miller. Betty graduated from Carthage High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Mike Gasperi in 1962, but later divorced. Betty married Archie Montgomery on November 25, 1991, in Macomb, Illinois. He preceeded her in death in 1997. Betty worked as a nurses assistant at Memorial Hospital in Carthage for 29 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, where she sang in the choir. Betty was an animal lover, and her favorite was her Yorkie, Tink. Betty is survived by her children, Elaine (Michael) Askins of Manito, Illinois, Michele (Gary) Karlowicz of McHenry, Illinois, and Linda (Vincente) Perea of Carthage; grandchildren, Meghan (Larry) Grom, Devon Vance, Chancellor Briggs, and Dallas (Abby) Askins; great-grandchildren Lexi Grom, Leo Grom, and Elliott Grom; and a nephew Mike (Faye) Berg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Archie, and two sisters, Helen Ruggles and Marie Berg. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the Hearts of Hancock Humane Society.
