Bonnie Mayes Obituary Bonnie J. Mayes, 67, of Carthage, passed away at 1:24 P.M., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at La Harpe-Davier Health Care Center. Bonnie was born August 21, 1949, the daughter of Kenneth and Vera Jean (Schoch) Sargent in La Harpe, Illinois. She attended Carthage High School graduating in 1968. She later went on to receiver her CNA license. Bonnie loved antiques and especially birdhouses. On March 21, 2009, she was united in marriage to Paul Mayes in Burnside, Illinois. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Paul Mayes, of Carthage; four children, Dawn (Warren) Clayburn of Coal City, Illinois, Brian (Pam) McMillen of Gerlaw, Illinois, Eric McMillen of Ferris, and Devin (Nellie) McMillen of Silvis, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Kenton, Kenady and Kit Clayburn, Alexandra (Justin) Schamberger, Aubrey and Owen McMillen, Derek and Dylan Brock and Myka McMillen; one great grandson, Layton Schamberger; her mother, Vera Jean Ikerd and step-father, Don Ikerd; seven brothers and sisters, Connie (Tom) Cutts of Rocky Mount, Missouri, Danny Sargent of Burlington, Iowa, Rick (Sara) Sargent of Hamilton, Kendall (Mary) Sargent of Carthage, Debbie (Mike) Bundy of Carman, Brent Ikerd of Carthage and Scott Ikerd of Carthage; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth; and a sister, Peggy Sargent. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, April 23, 2017, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at 4:00. A memorial fund has been established. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
