Catherine Blackwell Obituary Catherine Kay Blackwell, 92, of Keokuk, IA., died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa. She was born on October 26, 1921, in Johnstone, Scotland, the daughter of David and Jane Hosie Tweedie. She married William J. Blackwell on September 21, 1946 in Astoria Long Island, New York. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1996. Catherine was a resident of Keokuk since 1946 and a homemaker. She has volunteered for Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary in the Gift Shop. Kay was the last of her family. She is survived by one daughter JoAnne Rupp and her husband John of Hannibal, Missouri; one grandson, Bryan Wayne Rupp of Texas; special friends Reenie and Kevin Kull and Jennie Ricker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. Private graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Keokuk Human Society or Wounded Warrior Project. The family would like to thank the staff of River Hills and especially the bounce back unit along with Dr. Waddell for the wonderful care.
