Charles Peterson Obituary Charles John "Chuck" Peterson, 85, of Carthage, passed away Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017 at his residence at Hickory Grove in Carthage. Chuck was born June 29, 1932, the son of Leonard A. and Inez (Kirkaby) Peterson in Jewell, Iowa. He graduated from Jewell High School. After graduation he served as a corpsman on the USS Tortuga 26 in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. On November 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise "Lou" McDonough in Iowa City, Iowa after meeting her at X-Ray school. She passed away in 1988. Chuck had worked as an X-Ray and Laboratory Technician for 10 years at Memorial Hospital in Carthage and then 38 years for Dr. Coeur in Carthage after that. In 2014 Chuck went on the Honor Flight with his son-in-law, Dan Dion. He enjoyed gardening. Chuck is survived by three daughters, Patty Peterson, Jody (Dan) Dion and Connie (Mike) Belshaw, all of Carthage; grandchildren, Sarah Whitten, Emily Wildrick, Ben (fiancAC., Bre Lehman) Dion, Brigham (Jamie) Dion, Molly (Zach) Faudere, Amy (Ryan) Bruenger and Eric Belshaw; great grandchildren, Conner Whitten, Bentley Dion, Caris and Calla Dion, Eli Faudere and Graham Bruenger; a sister, Shirley Davis of Winterset, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Peterson of Gloucester, MA and Patty Dunn of Ogden, IA; longtime friend, Phil Tuttle of Carthage and nieces and nephews, Rosalee, Carla, Paula, Steve, Joel, Sue, Debbie and Terrie. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lou; one brother, Richard Peterson; two brothers-in-law, George Dunn and Bill Davis; and son-in-law, Jack Wildrick. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Burial will follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage with military rites. Family will meet friends from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Honor Flight or to the family.
