Doris Wear Obituary Doris Ilene Wear, 93, of Carthage, IL passed away Friday, February 10th, 2023, in her home at Hickory Grove Assisted Living in Carthage. Doris was born to Mervin & Mildred (Smith) Junkins on February 4th, 1930, in Ft Madison, IA. She grew up in and around Montrose, IA where she graduated from Montrose High in 1947. She then earned her degree in education from the University of Iowa. She met the love of her life, William "Bill" Wear, on a blind date arranged by their best friends Bob & Donna Reuck. They married on July 4th, 1950, in Momence, IL, and went on to have four children. Doris taught primary school for many, many years, most of those in kindergarten. Teaching brought her great joy as did all the little ones whose lives she got to touch. Doris favorite thing was spending time with her family. She liked playing cards or board games and enjoyed books and movies. She loved all the fun Friday nights with her husband Bill and her many brothers and sisters-in-law. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to plays and musicals. Doris absolutely loved to travel and was fortunate to go many different places both foreign and domestic. Doris is survived by her children, son Tim (Vicki) Wear of Corvallis, OR, daughter Diana (Dave) Harrison, and daughter-in-law Karen Wear, all of Carthage. Her brother, Craig Junkins, of Montrose, IA. Her grandchildren, Stacie Wear, Zachari Wear, Brandi (Eric) Johnson, Raigan (Ben) Brown, Adam (Cheyenne) Harrison, Scott (Kimberly) Harrison, Shelby (Derek St Clair) Repplinger, & Bria (Ryan Boddeker) Repplinger. Her great-grandchildren Cleo Wear, Erin (Zane) Schmudlach, Kendra & Nick Johnson, Hattie & Baylor Brown, Haiven & Talya Harrison, Adalyn Harrison, Camber & Greyson St Clair, Charlie, Payton, & Beck Boddeker, and great-great granddaughter Natalie Schmudlach. Also dearly loved brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William Wear Sr, sons William Wear Jr and Robert Wear, granddaughter Brittany Wear, great grandson Jett Brown, her parents, her brother Gary Junkins, and several beloved in-laws. The funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with burial to follow at Moss Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage from 4 7 pm. Memorials may be made out to the Memorial Hospital Foundation with funds going to Hickory Grove outdoor furniture or the Carthage Primary School Activity Fund for playground equipment.
