Obituary

Frances Marie Tweedell, 94 of Carthage, passed away at her home at 9:00 AM, Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Frances was born May 8, 1931, in Monroe City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Edward B. and Leta (Engle) Ford. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Monroe City; she was one of thirteen in her class. On May 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to William Matthew Tweedell at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Carthage. They had five children from this union but later divorced.

Frances worked over 40 years as a teller at Farmers State Bank in Ferris and then First Bankers Trust in Carthage. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Eagles Club Woman's Auxiliary. Frances loved to bowl and golf and was a big Cubs fan. She would play solitaire for hours after she got tired of her crosswords. Anyone that knew Frances, knew she loved her cats.

Frances is survived by her children, Jan (Brian) Bailey of Macomb, Il, Dirk (Lynn) Tweedell of Carthage, Jill Connet of Carthage, Mike Tweedell of Carthage, and Mitch (Amy Hurt) Tweedell of Carthage; her grandchildren, Dustin Tweedell of Quincy, Il, Drew Tweedell of Waterloo, IA, Brandon (Taylor) Tweedell of Evansville, IN, Courtney Tweedell of Springfield, IL, Caitlin Tweedell of Springfield, IL, Shelby Jo Tweedell of Camanche, IA; two step grandchildren, Brittney (Cory) Thompson of Warsaw, IL, and Brandi (Kelsey) Davis of Keokuk, IA; ten great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her seven siblings, Mary Ford, Bill Ford, Teresa Maddex, Robert Ford, Velma Ford, Margaret Mason and James Ford.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Calvary section. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Carthage Clipper Fire Department and Blessing Hospice. Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
