Frederick Gilpin Obituary Frederick Leroy Gilpin, 70, of Prairie City, Illinois, passed away at 11:25 AM Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Prairie City Health Care Center. Fred was born June 10, 1952, in La Harpe, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Maynard) Gilpin. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Ramsey in Fort Madison in 1983. Fred was employed by the railroad and had also worked at Memorial Hospital in Carthage. He enjoyed fishing, boating, picnics and especially fish fries on the weekend. Fred is survived by two sons, Donnie Gilpin of Prairie City, Illinois, and Randy (Kathy) Gilpin of Quincy; grandchildren, Neveah and Douglas Gilpin; a sister, Sherry Brown of Oquawka, Illinois; a brother, Lenny Gilpin of Pontoosuc; and many nieces and nephews that he was very close to. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russ Gilpin; and a sister, Liz McSparen. Funeral services will be held at Printy Funeral Home Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in Myer Cemetery near Dallas City. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of the arrangements.
