Gene Howes Obituary Gene H. Howes, 96, of Hamilton, passed away at his home, Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 6:45 PM, a day after his wife of 72 years, Roberta. Gene was born November 18, 1925, the son of Olin and Clara (Hoyer) Howes in Cottonwood, Iowa. He graduated from Donnellson High School. He later served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the V.F.W. Gene was an insurance and real estate agent and had primarily worked as an electrical contractor. He was a jack of all trades but especially enjoyed gardening and was an outstanding woodworker. Gene is survived by a son, Doug Howes of Hamilton; a daughter, Rhonda Fischer of Oakwood Hills, Illinois; grandchildren, Ryan (Grace) Howes, Erin (Nathaniel) Slosson, Tyler (Lauren) Fischer and Kendall (Marielle) Fischer; three great grandsons; two great granddaughters; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roberta; and two sisters, Alene Brill and Marge Durbin. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton. Family will meet friends from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sharon Cemetery nearing Farmington, Iowa.
