Geraldine Metternich Obituary Geraldine Metternich, 101, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Hamilton, IL, Sunday evening, February 3, 2019, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Geraldine (Brady) was born May 8, 1917, in Warsaw, Illinois, to James Louis Brady and Margaret Montgomery Brady. She was united in marriage to Lowell Albert Metternich on October 23, 1940, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, Illinois. Lowell preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. They had had a wonderful marriage of 61 years. Geraldine has lived in the Warsaw, Carthage, Mt. Vernon, and Hamilton, IL, and Keokuk, IA areas all of her life, except for the 10 years they resided in Florida. She and her husband, Lowell, co-owned and operated the "Vogue" on Main Street, Keokuk for 10 years. Geraldine was an active member of The Church of All Saints. She participated in the Church's Altar Society and always sang in the choirs, and was very active in all her children's and community events with Lowell. "Jady" obtained several Master's level with Duplicate Bridge points, and taught the competitive bridge game for 2 years at the Keokuk Country Club. Geraldine is survived by two daughters: Mary Lynne Arms of Hamilton, IL., Janet Richardson (Donald) of Plandome, NY, and one son, Jerry Metternich (Susan) of Hamilton, Il; 5 grandchildren: Kathryn Richardson (Charles Chigounis), Emily Tesio (Robert), and Sarah Richardson, Molly Metternich Bowman (Marc) and Matthew Metternich. One nephew, Rev. Fr. Richard Barclift, five nieces, Joan Bradfield Salerno, Peggy Bradfield Flynn, Colleen Metternich Puscas, Diane Metternich Flynn and Donna Metternich Sternaman. Two Great Grandchildren: Joseph Tesio and Brayden Bowman; and Jady's precious pooch "Beau" who accompanied her even to her bridge parties. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, her parents, James and Margaret Montgomery, three sisters: Mary Brady, Margaret Bradfield, and Kathryn Barclift, and two nephews, James Barclift, and James Bradfield. The Memorial Mass for Geraldine will be Friday, February 8, 2019, at 10AM at The Church of All Saints in Keokuk, Iowa. Reverend Fr. Robert Lathrop will be celebrating with Rev. Fr. Richard Barclift. Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, with Rosary being said at 8 PM.
