Glen Linquist Obituary Glen E. Linquist, 92, of Ankeny, Iowa and formerly of Keokuk, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 4:35 P.M. at the Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, Iowa. Glen Linquist was born on September 16, 1911 in Keokuk, Iowa. He was the son of John I. and Hazel Brown Linquist. He married Hazel E. Peterson on September 28, 1940. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2000. He had lived in Keokuk for most of his life until the death of his wife. He moved to be near his children and then moved to Ankeny to live at the Mill Pond Retirement Community. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Linquist Furniture Store in Keokuk for many years. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk and served on numerous church committees. Survivors include three sons, John E. Linquist and his wife, Sharon, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dr. Phillip A. Linquist and his wife, Janice, of Des Moines, Iowa, and David E. Linquist and his wife, Bonnie, of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, John Linquist, of California; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Linquist. Graveside services were Monday, August 16, 2004 at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa with military rites. A memorial service was held following the graveside service at First Baptist Church in Keokuk with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Keokuk.
