Harold Hayden Obituary Harold E. Hayden, 86, of Keokuk died at 10:38 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born on February 19, 1925 in Keokuk the son of Kenneth and Marie Scott Hayden. On August 23, 1947 Harold married Lucille Virginia Ruffcorn in Keokuk. After High School, Harold joined the Army and served in Europe during WWII where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and worked at Hubinger's for many years. Harold was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk, Keokuk Elks Lodge # 106, American Legion Post # 41 and VFW Post # 3508. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal fan. Harold is survived by his wife: Virginia Hayden of Keokuk; three sons: Terry Hayden and his wife Karen of Columbia, MO, Dennis Hayden of Keokuk and Roger Hayden and his wife Karen of Keokuk; two daughters: Diana Heavin and her significant other Danny Wrieden of Keokuk and Patti Mendenhall and her significant other Doug Roan also of Keokuk; seven grandchildren: Todd Hayden and his wife Valina, Susan Johnson and her husband Bill, Alicia Hayden, Bryan Hayden, Jenny Heavin-Gooley and her husband Chris, and Maxwell and Kelsey Mendenhall and three great grandchildren: Sterling Hayden and Kaelyn and Brennan Johnson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson: Kenny Hayden, one brother: Kenneth Hayden and one sister: Barbara LeMatty. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 7, 2011 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers located at 917 Blondeau St. in Keokuk with Rev. Alice Hawes officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation is after 3 pm on Sunday with family meeting with friends from 5 to 7 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers located at 917 Blondeau St. There will be an Elks Memorial Service at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Keokuk Elks Lodge # 106.
