Harvey Gipe, Jr. Obituary Harvey "Skip" D. Gipe, Jr., 77, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, in South Dakota. Skip was born on March 9, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harvey Sr. and Faye (Howell) Gipe. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from Ventura College in 1970 with a degree in Engineering, Design and Drafting. He was employed at Roquette where he worked in drafting and engineering. Skip proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, receiving his honorable discharge. Skip was an avid motorcycle rider and deer hunter and enjoyed shooting pool in his local league. In his younger years, he was passionate about training dogs, teaching many classes in the area. Skip will always be remembered for his quick wit and comical personality. He could be strong-willed and independent and was respected for his intellect and his attention to detail. Most of all, Skip was a friend to everyone. Skip is survived by his daughter Tina (Chris) Summers of Keokuk; his son Michael Gipe of Keokuk; Bette Gipe, Steve (Tracie) Burgund and Nashay Harmon; two grandchildren: Jenna Summers of Keokuk and Tyrel (Tiffany) Gipe of Jacksonville, Florida; his great-granddaughter Elie Gipe; siblings Janet Hall of Mesquite, Texas, and Jerry (JC) Gipe of Kansas City, Missouri; two nieces; two nephews; many cousins; Skip is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Muril Phillips, Steve Gipe and Tommy Gipe; and his grandson Dylan Summers. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa, with burial to follow at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, July 25, at the funeral home directly before the service. Memorials may be directed to ASPCA or an animal shelter of the donors choice.
