Herbert Shallenberger Obituary Herbert LeRoy Shallenberger, 79, of Hamilton, passed away at 11:47 AM Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Macomb Post Acute Care Center. Herb was born March 9, 1944, the son of Herbert J. and Alta (Todd) Shallenberger in LaHarpe, Illinois. He graduated from Dallas City High School. On August 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Hewitt at his home Hamilton. Herb worked at Steel Castings in Keokuk for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hamilton. Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a skilled woodworker. He had an easy sense of humor and was great with one-liners. Herb loved watching wrestling and the Green Bay Packers, but his pride and joy was his family. Herb is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Macomb; three daughters, Wendy (John) Ikerd of Elvaston, Shawn (Kevin) Boone of Sturgis, Michigan, and Cindy (Calvin) Anderson of Burlington; grandchildren, Dawn (Jody) Johnson, Christina Ikerd, Bradley Ikerd, Andrew Boone, Jennifer Boone, Ashley Boone, Amber (Ryan) Hanson, Kyle (Kelsey) Sherburne, Joe (Morgan) Sherburne and Nicolas (Tia) Sherburne; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Wendy Eileen Shallenberger. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton. A visitation will be held from 2:00 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton with family meeting friends from 5:00 7:00. Burial will be held at Harris Cemetery in Dallas City at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 7th. Memorials may be directed to Fishing for Freedom.
