Ira Gann Obituary Ira Wayne 'Ike' Gann, 72, of Carthage, passed away at his home Monday evening, April 3, 2017. Ike was born July 17, 1944, the son of Raymond and Marie (Hitz) Gann in Quincy, Illinois. He attended Carthage High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1962 until his Honorable Discharge in 1968. On June 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Linda Markey. She survives. Ike was a member of the Carthage Eagle's Club and the Bowen American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ike was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage and also the Knights of Columbus. For over 36 years Ike worked as a serviceman for Menn's Firestone in Carthage retiring in 2006. Ike is survived by his wife, Linda, of Carthage; two sons, Tony (Kim) Gann of Carthage and Preston (Trish) Gann of Troy, Illinois; his mother, Marie Clark of Carthage; six grandchildren, Hunter and Nolan Gann, Aleah and Alanna Gann and Shandler and Preston Powelson; a brother, Rusty (Sandy) Gann of New Bern, NC; and two sisters, Jennie (Jack) Boyer of Adrian and Phyllis Hemphill of Keokuk. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Gann; and a brother-in-law, Tom Markey. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning, April 8, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. A Rosary will be held at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home following the visitation. Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Hall Building Fund in Carthage or the American Diabetes Association. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
