James Gross Obituary James Robert "JR" Gross Sr., 72, of Keokuk, went to be with the Lord at 7:10 AM Sunday, March 03, 2013, at his home.
JR was born May 14, 1940, in San Benito, Texas, the son of Benjamin Fredrick and Lillian Sylvia Kventon Gross. He married Norma Tinkham on December 25, 1968 in Massachusetts. She survives. He lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts, from 1978 until moving to Keokuk in 2005. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of Vietnam and was a vehicle maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Ft. Madison and a lifetime member of Full Gospel Business Men's Association. He had served as Post Commander of VFW Post #1805 of Ft. Madison where he was a lifetime member of the VFW.
JR is survived by his wife, Norma; two children, Angie Tillman and husband Dan of Keokuk and James Robert Gross, Jr. and his wife Christina of Littleton, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Kelsi Tillman, Charlie Hayner IV, Katie Tillman, Amy Hayner, Karlee Tillman, Jeremy Mainger, Katie, Rebecca, Amanda and Sarah Gross; and one niece and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ben and Noy.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Faith Family Church in Keokuk. Burial with military rites will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening.
Memorials are suggested for American Heart Association or Iowa Hospice.
