Obituary

Janice Maxine Rosenboom, 81, of Carthage, IL, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Janice Maxine King was born on November 12, 1944, in Macomb, IL. She was the oldest daughter to her parents Bill and Maxine (Carle) Johnson. On September 8, 1963, Janice was united in marriage to Jim Rosenboom in Carthage. They had two children, Greg (Robyn) Rosenboom, and Jenny (Tom) White.

Janice was known to many as Grammy and her own grandchildren were her world. She was the proud Grammy of Mindy (Justin), Danielle (Parker), Lauren (Erynn), Matt, Kevin, and Zach. She was a great Grammy to Harper, Josephine, and Gavin. She is also survived by one sister and two nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Janice was a graduate of Carthage High School in 1962. She then went on to Gem City Business College and received her certificate in 1963. After completing her course work, she was employed for various secretarial duties by 1st National Bank, Marine Bank, Memorial Hospital, and the Hancock County Clerk's Office, and then continued as a licensed daycare provider helping raise many area children for 30 years.

Janice was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage where she served on many committees. She was also a kindergarten Sunday School teacher for 20 years. She loved to travel, watch Hallmark movies, was an avid Candy Crush player, and enjoyed putting together puzzles and playing card games with her grandchildren. She loved to bake and would always have treats in her kitchen for anyone who stopped by for a visit. Janice had a huge heart for supporting children in need. Her kind and selfless spirit will be missed greatly.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Carthage. A visitation will be held from 4 – 6pm on Friday, January 2, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be made out to The Baby Fold, the Cunningham Children's Home, or the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
