Jeff Hammel Obituary Jeffrey Robert "Jeepurz" Hammel, 68, if Hamilton, passed away at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Jeff was born July 24, 1956, the son of Robert C. and Peggy Jane (Money) Hammel in Keokuk, Iowa. He attended Hamilton High School, graduating in 1974. He was united in marriage to Sandra Voss in 1986. She survives. Jeff owned and operated Heartland Carpets in Hamilton from 1989 until July 1, 2024. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed building them and was a member of Chopper Underground. He could often be seen riding his e-bike as well. Jeff had many hobbies including photography and making videos. He also spent many hours visiting with friends in the local coffee shops during the week. He enjoyed the river and would often fish and take out his canoe. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his grandchildren. They were number one in his life.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Hamilton; children, Rob (Dawn) Hammel of Hamilton, Cassie Underwood of Keokuk, Travis (Kalyn) Hammel of Warsaw, Kyle (Jess) Hammel of Hamilton and Kelsey Hammel of Quincy; nine grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Debra (Bruce) Richards of Jacksonville, Illinois, Cynthia (Dick) Adkins of Greenville, Illinois and Nancy (Gary) Wolber of Rock Island; and his beloved dog, Kong.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Lacey Marie Hammel.
Jeffs life will be celebrated Saturday, August 9th, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM at his home in Hamilton at 411 Broadway Street.
