Joel 'Ned' Casady Obituary Joel "Ned" Casady, 80, of Warsaw, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at his home in Warsaw. Ned was born on October 29, 1941, in North English, Iowa, the son of Walter W. and Ida Marie (Wymore) Casady. On August 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Margaret Johnson in Fairfield, Iowa, at the Parsons College Chapel. They were later divorced. He was united in marriage to Carol Sharpe on July 4, 2004, in Warsaw, Illinois. She survives. Ned graduated from English Valleys High School, North English, in 1959, where he played four years of varsity football and loved every minute of it. He was also an Eagle Scout. Ned went on to graduate from Parsons College in 1963 with a degree in Mathematics. Ned was a farmer, was an Honorary Chapter Farmer in the Warsaw FFA Chapter in 1980, and recognized for outstanding accomplishments in resource conservation by the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District in 1987. He also was employed as a substitute teacher throughout the area, serving area schools including Hamilton High School and the Regional Office Youth Alternative Learning Services in Carthage. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Warsaw, where he enjoyed singing. His love of music led him to join his daughters family in McNamaras Band, where he played the saxophone. In his free time, Ned enjoyed watching old Westerns (especially Gunsmoke), listening to old radio programs, and working in his yard. Ned was an active member of his community, volunteering often and serving as president of the school board during the 1970s and 1980s. He also volunteered with the Hancock County Historical Society. He was a good neighbor, and enjoyed helping others, even if he was difficult and ornery at times. Ned remained stubborn until the very end. Ned is survived by his wife Carol Casady of Warsaw; four children: William "Bill" (Barbara) Casady of Warsaw, Deb (Max) Roskamp of Sutter, Illinois, Paul Casady of Keokuk, IA, and Ariel (Andrew) Benedict of St Francisville, MO; twelve grandchildren: Jenna (Steve) Gakumo, Megan Kaneer, Rachel (Kevin) Riley, John (Christy) Roskamp, Justin Roskamp, Brandon Sage, Janelle Casady, Joel Casady, Jessica Casady, Audrina Benedict, Riley Benedict, and Lillian Benedict; six step-children: John (Sherry) Morton, Susan (Kirk) Gribler, Lillian (Glenn) Foulks, Lauralisa Anderson, David (Brenda) Morton and Thomas (Amy) Morton; and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ned is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Becky Stanley, and his grandson Gavin Roskamp. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Warsaw, Illinois, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw, IL. The service will be livestreamed on Neds obituary page at www.printyfuneralhome.com. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, at the church from 10 am until 2 pm directly before the service, with family meeting friends from 12 pm to 2 pm. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Warsaw or the Hancock County Historical Society, where he remained an active volunteer until his death.
