John Gronewold Obituary John Matthew Gronewold, 47, of Carthage, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his home in Carthage. John was born December 23, 1968, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of George, Jr. and Carol (O'Connell) Gronewold. John graduated from Carthage High School and went on to attend Western Illinois University. John was a skilled carpenter, a New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed the out-of-doors and spending time with his German Shepherds. John is survived by his mother, Carol; four siblings, Mike (Marla) Gronewold of Carthage, Joe (Connie) Gronewold of Mendon, Jeanne Gronewold of Quincy and Andy (Lori) Gronewold of Carthage; uncle and aunts Ed and Gerri Harrison of Carthage and Jane O'Connell of Quincy, and nieces and nephews, Kelly Altgilbers, Randi Summers, and Josh, Danielle, Lauren, Brody, Michaela and Brandon Gronewold; and a special friend, Bobbi Wear. He was preceded in death by his father, George Gronewold, Jr.; grandparents, Emma Gronewold, Larry and Doris O'Connell; uncle Mike O'Connell; cousin John Harrison, and Reggie and Emi. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery near Basco. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Hearts of Hancock Humane Society.
