Joy Blackwell Obituary Joy E. Blackwell, 89, of Keokuk died January 28, 2013 at 6:50 pm at Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on July 1, 1923 in Alexandria, MO, a daughter to Robert A. & Emma J. Corder Wood. Joy married Howard W. Blackwell on May 23, 1942 in Kahoka, MO and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2002. Joy was a lifelong area resident. She worked at General Mills during WWII. Joy was a member of E. Free Church and later the Alexandria Baptist Church. She also belonged to the NOYBA Club. Joy is survived by one son: David Blackwell and his wife Claire of Valencia, CA; one daughter: Carole Sherman of Keokuk, IA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law: Linda Blackwell of Poway, CA. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son: Donald Blackwell in 2004, four brothers and one sister. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at Alexandria Baptist Church. Burial will be in National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Visitation No Visitation Service Service Pending
