Lloyd Huls Obituary Lloyd Keith Huls, 76, of Carthage, passed away at his home, Sunday, January 22, 2023. Lloyd was born July 11, 1946, the son of Jacob and Hilda (Sartorius) Huls in Keokuk, Iowa. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1964. On April 17,1966, Lloyd married Colleen Louise Fink; she survives. On July 31, 1965, Lloyd entered the Army National Guard, where he retired after 20+ years of service. He was assigned to the 224th Engineer Battalion as a combat engineer. Lloyd was deployed during Desert Storm. Lloyd was a lifelong farmer, raising crops, and dairy cattle. In retirement Lloyd enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved taking the kids to show their dairy cows, running them to ball practice and to Dollar General, and helping the boys on the farm. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Colleen, six children; Angela (Donald) Newman of Carthage, Lloyd "Tony" Huls of Carthage, Bridget (Tim) Williams of Loami, Il, Nathan (Nancy) Huls of Carthage, Sidney "Sid" (Kristin) Huls of Carthage, and Abraham "Abe" (Crystal) Huls of Carthage, nineteen grandchildren; Paige (Samuel Derr), Dalton, and Marissa Newman, Megan and Owen Huls, Rebecca Jones, Jessica Williams, Brittney (Garrett) Conklin, Courtney, Troy and Whittney Williams; Nickolas, Ava, and Kori Huls; McKenna and Maci Huls; Zander and Deklan Huls, two great grandchildren; Olivia Jones and Joe Pickett, he is also survived by five sisters; Alice Varner, Esther Huls, Janet Hoffman of Carthage, Mary Lou Lisenbee of McKinney, TX, and Dixie (Ed) Schneider of Coeur dAlene, ID, two brothers-in-law; David Grace and Gary Tenhouse, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jacob Huls; a brother; Harold (Ina) Huls, four sisters; Martha Shay, Gladys Rhodes, Fern Grace, and Susan Tenhouse, and three brothers-in-law; Jim Varner, Don Lisenbee, and Leroy Hoffman. Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Carthage with burial to follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund for improvements. Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
