Louis Klepfer Obituary Louis Steven "Bud" Klepfer, 82, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away at 8:12 AM Sunday, October 9, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
Bud was born in Peoria, Illinois, on February 10, 1934, the son of Louis and Jeanette Werner Klepfer. On December 29, 1956 he married Kathleen McCleary in Keokuk, Iowa. He joined the United States Army in July 1956, serving until June 1958. He was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk/Hamilton area. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, and Lake Keokuk Yacht Club where he was the oldest active "boating member". He enjoyed talking to transients about their trips. He loved cars and enjoyed tractors. He used to race boats in the 40's and 50's and held a speed record for a period of time. Bud enjoyed college football and basketball and trap shooting at the Yacht Club. He was a people person and always enjoyed being with young people; he said it kept him younger.
Bud is survived by his wife, Kathleen Klepfer of Hamilton; one son Kerry (Judy) Klepfer of Keokuk, Iowa; four daughters: Trudy (Mark) Frank of Chicago, Illinois, Kathy Klepfer of New York, New York, Linda (Michael) Clarizo of York, Maine, and Stephanie Hoffman of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren: Nate (Tara) Klepfer of Keokuk, Danielle (Josh) Anderson of Keokuk, Jordan Frank and his fiance Stephanie, Taylor Frank and Evan Frank all of Chicago, Illinois, and Mia Clarizo of Maine; two great grandchildren, Lennon Anderson and Faye Klepfer; one sister Marlene Short of Hamilton, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Gertrude Klepfer who raised "Buddy".
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Rev. Robert Lathrop at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Burial with full military rites will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4:00 PM with family meeting friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street, with a Christian Vigil Service following the visitation.
