Marilyn Nelson Obituary Marilyn F. Nelson, 78, of Hamilton, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Carthage on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 10:47 P.M.
Marilyn was born March 3, 1937, the daughter of Page and Velma (Werle) Harrington in Bucklin, Missouri. After graduation from high school she went on to receive her teaching degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri. She particularly enjoyed her first grade students at Hamilton Elementary School, where she taught for over 40 years. On August 14, 1960, she was united in marriage to Victor O. Nelson at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bucklin, Missouri. He survives.
Marilyn enjoyed church, shopping, and spending time playing games with her grandchildren. She was a member of her beloved bridge club and P.E.O. Marilyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamilton and enjoyed serving as the church treasurer for many years in addition to supporting many missionary projects. Her family fondly remembers her diet Mountain Dew, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and the annual Easter egg hunt.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Victor, of Hamilton; her children, James (Debbie) Nelson of Apex, North Carolina, and Melissa (Jim) Printy of Carthage, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Danielle (Andrew) Tremblay and Chase Nelson, and Evan (Kati), William (fiancAC., Kelsey Grotts), Elaine, Philip, Patrick, Faith, Emma, and Tessa Printy; one great grandson, Austin Tremblay; and one niece, Vicki Lindberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Dormalee and LaVern Lindberg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to New Tribes Mission, First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Trans-World Radio, or Samaritan's Purse Ministries. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
