Marjorie Brodie Obituary Marjorie L. Brodie, 92, of Carthage, passed away at 10:40 A.M., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage. Marjorie was born February 25, 1922, in Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of Rollin and Florence (Jacobs) Hofmeister. She was united in marriage to Philip Brodie on November 14, 1943, in Henry County. He preceded her in death in March of 1944. She was later united in marriage to Royt Brodie in Dallas City, Illinois on April 7, 1946. He preceded her in death in December of 1966. Marjorie graduated from J.D. Darnell High School in Geneseo, Illinois and went on to get her nursing degree from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rock Island, Illinois. She worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Carthage and for Dr. Eddingfield in Carthage for 17 years. She retired in 1987. She was a member of the Ferris Christian Church, Hancock County Volunteers for Diabetes, the Kibbe Museum, and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies and R.S.V.P. After her retirement she enjoyed quilting and traveling. She had made over 100 quilts, dolls and cups. Marjorie is survived by seven children, Steven (Karen) Brodie of St. Petersburg, Florida, Linda Brewer of Denver, Illinois, Ronald Brodie of Springfield, Illinois, Barbara (Tim) Siddons of Springfield, Kevin (Nancy) Brodie of Jacksonville, Illinois, Julie (Steve) Robards of Newburgh, Indiana, and Jill (Dean) Trone of Athens, Alabama; one brother, Dale (Joan) Hofmeister of Prophetstown, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four children, Rita Gean, twins Roger and Rodney, and Christine; a son-in-law, Jim Brewer; and one brother, Glenn. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at the Ferris Christian Church in Ferris with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ferris Christian Church, the Hancock County Volunteers for Diabetes or the Carthage Senior Center.
