Mary Scheers Obituary Mary Cecelia Scheers, 74, of Keokuk, passed away on February 11, 2017, at Great River Hospice House in Burlington. Mary was born in Keokuk on December 5, 1942, the daughter of Theodore and Anna Monks Lobberecht. On December 3, 1979, she was united in marriage to Thomas Scheers. He survives. A lifelong resident of Keokuk, Mary was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk and the Daughters of Isabella. At various times in her life, Mary was employed in retail, as a cook, and at an assisted care facility, respectively. She served as a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed watching Nascar, spending time with her cats and dogs, cooking and canning. Mary is survived by her husband Tom of Keokuk; her son Steve (Billi) Cramer of Mount Enterprise, Texas; her daughters Gina (Tony Houser) Cramer of Montrose and Jessica (Todd Edwardson) Scheers of Keokuk; her honorary sister Karen; and twelve grandchildren: Zoe, Luke, Brice, Noah, Grace, Tommy II, Ashley, John, Josh, Lori, Orion and Liam. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; two children: Tom and Sally; three brothers: Ted Tom and Bill; and her sister Betty Ann. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau Street, with Reverend Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7:30 PM, with family meeting friends from 6 to 7:30 pm. A Rosary will be held directly following the visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Keokuk Humane Society or Great River Hospice House.
