Mary Jo 'Jody' Sellers Obituary Mary Jo "Jody" Sellers, 78, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Mississippi Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Keokuk. Jody was born on December 6, 1945, at St. Josephs Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Joesph and Luella (Finnerty) Whalen. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and a member of All Saints Catholic Parish, also attending the Catholic schools in her youth. She obtained an associates degree at Southeastern Community College and in 1981, she began employment at the Department of Human Services, retiring from the role of Word Processor II. Jody liked to watch football and enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. She also loved to read books, spoil her grandchildren and attend their events. Jody is survived by one daughter Shelly Curran of Keokuk; her son Troy Garner (Joanne Dixson) of Belton, Missouri; two grandchildren: Tyler (Jennifer) Mueller of Farmington, Iowa, and Caylie (Angel) Cherry of Montrose, Iowa; two great-grandsons Ian Martin of Farmington, Iowa, and Rowan Cherry of Montrose, Iowa; four sisters: Donna (Russ) Guymon, Linda Davis, Ann North and Carolyn Peterie; and ten nieces and nephews. Jody is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dave Inman and two brothers-in-law: Ken Davis and Tom North. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Oakland Cemetery (Catholic) in Keokuk. Family and friends are encouraged to meet at 2:30 pm on Tuesday at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa, for a funeral procession to the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Shelly Curran for an established memorial.
